Rubypearl

My internet friend, Melissa posted recently about Rubypearl, an Etsy seller who makes pretty awesome dresses and corests out of vintage materials.

The dresses can be a little out there, but they'd be perfect for Coachella or Bonnaroo...you get the idea. Melissa recently wore the dress below to sxsw.

Journals

Do any of you write in a journal? I currently stow this Nantaka Joy notebook in my purse. I love the scalloped egdes, but I am looking for something a little more substantial this time around.

I love the bright colors of this Jill Bliss set.

Floor Coverings

We desperately need a new rug in our living room. A certain sweet pup has had her way with it and has made the living room quite unpleasant...I am loving this rich plum color.

Why are rugs so expensive?!

Lady Gaga

NYmag.com did a great profile on Lady Gaga. She's so intriguing with her strong aversion to pants and love for bows made of hair.

Here's a quote:

"Things are different for her now, as a bisexual adult who idolizes transvestite fashion."

Pearls and Black Ribbon

Just noticing the similarities of these two necklaces...one is $10 and one is $125.

Wondering if I could scoop up this necklace for $10 and rig it with some silk ribbon to get the J. Crew effect. What do you think?

Chalkboards

Victoria did a great round-up of chalkboards as decor.

I've been thinking about getting one myself, but dont know where in my house to put it.

I think the one below could lend a little rustic glamour to a kitchen to-do list. I found it on Etsy.

Tracy Feith for Target

Though I have been consistently disappointed with the offerings of the designer lines offered at Target, Tracy Feith looks a little promising - and yes that is Allie from The City!

I like the looks of the orange knit top. Those ruffly black shorts are adorable, albeit impractical. I think my favorite is the black dress! I am trying not to get my hopes up...

Seen here.

Happy Birthday Everest + Happy Weekend

Lots of happiness going around this weekend!

Tomorrow after my letterpress class {!!} we are heading up to the Napa Valley to celebrate my cousin Erika's baby's 1st birthday! The weather has been beautiful so it will be a treat to be outdoors.

Happy weekend to you all, xo.

J. Crew Fall Sneak Peak

The girls over at Slaves to Fashion got a sneak peek of the J. Crew fall line. These are my favorites - they seem the most feminine of the bunch.

I like a few of the individual pieces, but some of the outfits they've chosen seem to flash back to their more masculine roots.

Downtown

Some pictures from my drive home today.

I am so lucky!

Taza and Husband

Naomi Davis has the sweetest blog. She and her husband are moving to from NY to DC and she is chronicling a few of the things they will miss most about New York. Check it out here

She also makes and sells these sweet headbands {though she is on crafting hiatus til they are settled in DC}.

Paris, Je T'aime

I just ordered this print. I am in desperate need for more art in my bedroom and this is just so lively and romantic.

Megan, I am picking one up for you too! I think it's just what you need right now.

Thanks to Lolita for posting about it and Joy for finding a source!

Amble Through Bramble

If you ever find you have a need for big, beautiful paper roses, this is your place.

Or! Learn to make them yourself here.

Seen at Swoonworthy.

Catalog Cards

Melissa posted the source of these sweet library catalog cards. Perfect for favorite quotes {this is one of mine} and library geeks {like me}.

Warm Days

Day at the park

It's beautiful in SF today - I just had lunch at the park at Levi Plaza {yes, the denim company} with some friends. I'm wearing my new {to me} Etienne Aigner boots and jeans, but I wish I were wearing this pretty ensemble!

What do you look forward to wearing when the weather warms up?

Marimekko

I loooooove this dress that Joy posted today. Isn't it beautiful? I think it should be my summer uniform. Cleaning the bathroom could be glamorous if done in this dress.

I found this blog on Blogger's Blogs of Note today! Her images are clean and beautiful. Have a looksy.

There are three parts - about 32 minutes all together. Thoughts?

Take Time To Slow Down & Dress Up

That's the tag-line of
Sunday Brunch, an romantic dress shop/gallery/blog.

The dresses are soft and feminine, the art {by Adrienne Vita} is vibrant and the blog is charming.

Just dreamy.

Fancy Workspaces

Cassandra at coco + kelley started a new series today called style (e)scapes.

She has a great eye and has highlighted some sweet workspaces and office inspiration for her first post.
Up top is the inspriation board of Melissa Davis of Ruby PR.

I also love the photos strewn together by the girls of ban.do.

Market Publique

If you are at all like me, you get tired of looking for quality vintage clothing on eBay. It's difficult to wade through it all and deciphering what is vintage and what is just plain old can be exhausting.

Market Publique is an eBay-esque site that focuses solely on vintage wares!

Their statement:

We are committed to bringing the community together so we can all have a place to buy, sell and discuss vintage in a positive and focused environment.

Fun, right?! Check it out.

Peaceful

I took this driving between Petaluma and the Napa Valley Saturday afternoon.

The quality isn't that great, but it was so beautiful and so different from the day to day skyscape in San Francisco.

What Does It Say About Me..

..that I take wisdom away from The City?!

DVF herself delivered this gem in last week's episode/season finale:

"The most important relationship you have in life is the relationship you have with yourself, because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself."

Profound, right? I'll keep telling myself that.

The photo is a fun look from her spring 09 collection.

Hugging the weekend with both arms

What are you lovelies up to this weekend? I'm going to eat spaghetti, visit with family, enjoy the sunshine {though I hear it might rain tomorrow - sigh} and brainstorm about projects.

Hope you are filled with weekend lovin' wherever you may be.

Welcome Spring

I thought this mish mash of rainbow inspired dresses that Emily put together was the perfect way to officially welcome spring into our lives this year.

Check out the deets here.

Oh my..

When I said Gossip Girl was back, I wasn't messing around.
Holy cow.

Writing

Continuing on with my fanatical reading of Melissa's archives, I came across these writing tips on subconscious writing from Jack Kerouac that she posted a while back.

These struck me for a few reasons: Part of the reason I started this blog was to write more. Yes, my posts are mostly short blurbs raving about some product or person and obviously I'm not redefining the written word here, but I am still {trying} to write daily in any form.

These are her favorites and I wanted to share them with you:

-Scribble secret notes, and wild typewritten pages, for your own joy

-Submissive to everything, open, listening

-Be in love with your life

-Something that you feel will find its own form

-Blow as deep as you want to blow

-Write what you want bottomless from bottom of the mind

-Remove literary, grammatical and syntactical inhibition

-Telling the true story of the world in interior monologue

-Write in recollection and amazement for yourself

-No fear or shame in the dignity of your experience, language and knowledge

-Write for the world to read and see your exact pictures of it

-Composing wild, undisciplined, pure, coming in from under, crazier the better

For anyone else who is trying to write more, Marta recently started a writing prompt series on her blog that you should check out. The third installment is here.

New beginnings

One of my longtime best friends moved in today!

We became fast friends sophomore year of high school and despite the different paths we've taken since then, she is back in my life {and now my home!} in a serious way and I couldn't be happier.

Amanda, I am so excited for what is to come. I love you to the moon and back.

Stay Forever Sunday

Came across
this blog via A Little Sussy {you should head there immediately and check out the photo shoot - to die for} and I've been clicking through her archives for the last hour.

I find that I enjoy the blogs of local people that much more, which isn't all that strange I suppose.

Melissa is totally cool {and there are lots of pictures of her super cute husband - bonus!} I hope I see her on the street one day so I can be one of those creepy blog people. Check her out.

Oh, Cindy!

I came across these shots of Cindy Crawford from the November 08 issue of French Vogue on K is for Katie.

How amazing does she look!? I think I'll do some pilates today...
