Continuing on with my fanatical reading of Melissa's archives, I came across these writing tips on subconscious writing from Jack Kerouac that she posted a while back.
These struck me for a few reasons: Part of the reason I started this blog was to write more. Yes, my posts are mostly short blurbs raving about some product or person and obviously I'm not redefining the written word here, but I am still {trying} to write daily in any form.
These are her favorites and I wanted to share them with you:
-Scribble secret notes, and wild typewritten pages, for your own joy
-Submissive to everything, open, listening
-Be in love with your life
-Something that you feel will find its own form
-Blow as deep as you want to blow
-Write what you want bottomless from bottom of the mind
-Remove literary, grammatical and syntactical inhibition
-Telling the true story of the world in interior monologue
-Write in recollection and amazement for yourself
-No fear or shame in the dignity of your experience, language and knowledge
-Write for the world to read and see your exact pictures of it
-Composing wild, undisciplined, pure, coming in from under, crazier the better
For anyone else who is trying to write more, Marta recently started a writing prompt series on her blog that you should check out. The third installment is here.
