Hello, Hello

Hello loves, I'm checking in once again. This surgery turned out to be a doozy and then several more unfortunate events came up. One being the death of one of the the most amazingly positive, loving, effervescent women I've ever know.

It's times like these where it's truly a challenge to make each day your best and appreciate it for what it is. Take time today to make sure those in your life know you love them

I'm also guest-blogging over at Sweet Nothings, so you can head on over if you find yourself missing me, wink wink.

I hope to be back to normal posting in the next week.

Checking In

Hello loves...sorry for the radio silence around here. I am just home from some very minor surgery and resting up with the help of my sweet sister!

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow, xx.

Whoa, Betty

It's everyone's favorite oppressed housewife, Betty Draper!

January Jones is on the cover of the November issue of GQ magazine and she has some choice things to share:

On Her First Hollywood Relationship ... With Ashton Kutcher: "The guy I was dating when I first got to L.A. was not supportive of my acting. He was like, I don't think you're going to be good at this. So -- f--- you! He only has nice things to say now -- if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated."

On Why She Got Into Modeling Early On: "Showing all those bitches in high school who said I wasn't pretty enough."

On Her GQ Interview: "What am I even saying? These are just ridiculous sound bites that you're going to put in the caption next to me being naked."

Le Blog de Betty

I'm sure you're all already familiar with Le Blog de Betty, but I just discovered it a few weeks ago and am utterly transfixed by her icy beauty and impeccable style.

I know everyone craves the easy yet glamourous style that the French seem to have in their blood, but while most people think striped shirt, I think more perfectly coquettish glittered heel. Check her out and dare to disagree.

Bunny Ears

We first saw this confusing accessory when Madonna wore them to the Met Gala earlier this year and again in her Vuitton shoot. They've shown their face (ears?) a few times since then and now the Sartorialist spotted someone wearing them on the street. She was en route to the Louis Vuitton show in Paris which makes it a bit less confusing. The Cut covered it here and echos my sentiments exactly.

Marc Jacobs on how they came to be:

"There's a girl who works for us, Lucy, she's on the design team, and Adrian, one of the boys, was tying a little bit of fabric around and it reminded me of bunny. We were thinking of all these different things like can-can dancers, and I saw this piece of fabric wrapped around Lucy's head and said, 'Bunny ears, that's what we need to finish this look.' So we made all these radzimir bunny ears and that's how it happened. I like the kind of Playboy, French coquette aspect to it."

Herein lies the breakdown between couture, ready-to-wear and street fashion. It's clear that though bold, couture to street style often doesn't translate.

What do you think? Will this really catch on? Would you wear them?

Georgia Jagger

Loving these stunning outtakes from the Vanity Fair shoot with Georgia Jagger. Talk about magnificent genes.

Dry Your Eyes

Hey, for all of you who are still sad about the demise of Gourmet, Cookie and those two bridal magazines (who knew you could be so many different "types" of bride!), wipe those tears away!

Condé Nast has launched their newest venture, Truly Madly Dating for all you GQ and Glamour types out there looking for love.

To this I say, really, Condé Nast, really? But hey, best of luck to all of you looking for online love. Fingers crossed that neither GQ or Glamour are next on the chopping block.

Sweet ring seen at coco+kelley, available here.

California Cool

Check out this sweet blurb from C magazine about my neighborhood!

You can see a panoramic view of Dolores Park (a favorite hangout on lazy afternoons) and there's a feature on Sasha Wingate (better known as Sasha Darling), the owner of BellJar, one of the most perfect boutiques EVER.

Farmer Lagerfeld

Remember back in July when I posted about this? Turns out it was just a taste of what Karl Lagerfeld was bringing to the table for Chanel's Spring 2010 ready-to-wear show.

Look at this believable barn fashioned underneath the Grand Palais. Makes your average runway look very bush league, doesn't it?

Ten Inches

Look, I am a girl who loves a good heel. I wear heels to work almost every day (in a very casual office), I will even wear heels to a swimming pool (in Las Vegas at least), but in the name of Alexander McQueen, I can't get on board with this.

I know, I know, it's couture and for that, it's great, but let's all start counting the seconds until Steve Madden has a knock-off in the works. And people wonder why models are face planting on the runways with increasing frequency. Those are 10-inch heels.

That said, I think they'd make beautiful bookends.

Taste The Rainbow

Love this happy packaging! Made from fruit, flowers and spices, these sweet, all natural drinks would be a gorgeous touch at any party.

I've tried the Organic Blood Orange & Mandarin {available at Miette here in San Francisco} and not only was it delightful, but the bottle made for a sweet single bud vase on my vanity for quite some time.

They have a blog you can check out right here.

Stark

Love the simple beauty of this ceramic art by Whitney Smith. These nesting lotus bowls were my fave.

Pumpkin Fever

As soon as fall hits, the Christmas decorations start pouring out, but I think it's nice to truly enjoy each season/holiday as it comes, don't you? Times flies {clearly since it's already October!} and taking the time to enjoy the little things is what it's all about.

That said, it IS October and it's time to get festive around these parts!

I don't think Sephora sells this anymore, but I just gave myself a mini-facial at home with their Great Pumpkin Mask. It's packed with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, blood orange, lemon and, of course, pumpkin.

It smells seasonably delectable and packs a mean punch {meaning it BURNS!} but the glow it gives is worth it.

A similar mask: Pumpkin Enzyme Peel
